Playing

Tap a pad or press 1–6 to play. Hold to sustain the sound; release to hear the envelope’s release stage. Short taps still play the minimum sustain duration. The interface fills the screen: six pads occupy the upper 85%, with sound-set navigation and an ADSR editor in the bottom 15%.

Sound sets

The green R button generates a new set. < / > revisit previous and next sets; the counter shows the current position. History lasts until reload. Generating from an earlier set replaces its future history.

Crossmix

Hold a pad and drag into another pad while keeping the mouse or finger pressed. After staying inside the new pad for 180 ms, the voices crossfade over one second. Keep dragging to transition again. Briefly crossing a pad does not switch sounds. Release to end the current voice with its release envelope; no sound is latched after release. Each touch controls its own transition independently.

Envelope

Drag the A, D, S and R points horizontally to edit their durations independently. A and R reach 10 seconds; D and S reach 5 seconds. Every stage has a 0.005-second minimum. Changing one stage moves later boundaries without shortening its neighbours.

Drag A vertically to set master volume. The muted Times italic ppp · pp · p · mf · f scale at the bottom-left of the graph highlights the current dynamic. Hold Shift while dragging A vertically, or drag R vertically, to select a curve: up = logarithmic, middle = linear, down = power. The drawn and audible curves match. S is the minimum sustain duration; its amplitude remains at 60% of the attack peak. Holding a pad extends that sustain until you release it.

For keyboard access, Tab to a point and use Left / Right to edit time (Shift for larger steps). On A, Up / Down edits volume and Shift+Up / Down selects the curve. On R, Up / Down selects its curve. Home / End sets the focused stage to its minimum / maximum duration.

Filter gesture

Press a pad and drag anywhere in the window, including across pad boundaries:

  • Vertical: resonant/cutoff frequency, from 40 Hz at the bottom to 16 kHz at the top.
  • Horizontal: filter Q, from 0.2 on the left to 18 on the right.

The crosshair and pad readout show the current values. Each pad keeps its own filter settings within its sound set. Touches on different pads control separate voices. Sound stops safely if the page loses focus.

Approach

An accessible, touchable browser hyperphone with visible feedback and rule-based randomness; it does not learn from players. Recording, persistent history, and explicit stop controls remain future work.
